Thirteen

Marty has joined forces with Linda Pitmon and Dave DeCastro (both of Steve Wynn's band) to cover Thirteen for a Big Star tribute album released recently on LunaSea Records. You can hear on a clip of the track here.

Release Notes

On this album you will find all of the Big Star favorites including Marty Willson-Piper's (of The Church and All About Eve) ‘Thirteen', The Red Telephone's rendition of ‘September Gurls', Fooled By April's ‘Oh Dana', Kris' ‘In The Street', The Scooters' ‘The Ballad of El Goodo', and Scout's ‘Thank You Friends'.

In addition, you can hear brilliant interpretations of Longwave's moody ‘Holocaust', The Vestrymen's ‘Kangaroo', and Probe's ‘Big Black Car'. For alt country fans, please pay special attention to Paula Kelley's version of ‘Look Up', Mike Daly's (of Whiskeytown) ‘You and Your Sister', Moths' ‘Jesus Christ', and Champale's ‘Stroke It Noel'.

Do not miss MacArthur's ‘Nighttime', Skywriter's ‘I'm In Love With A Girl', Susan and Brandee's ‘'Give Me Another Chance', and Nada Surf's ‘Blue Moon' for fans of sweet melodic interpretations. Please give this album your complete attention. There is more than 73 minutes of music written by Big Star's Alex Chilton and Chris Bell.

‘By honoring Big Star, we honor the great bands who never were the superstars of any age.'
